Food Smackdown: Red Velvet Cupcakes (Johnny's vs. Margie's)

Wanna know where you can buy the best red velvet cupcakes here in Davao city?
If you're from Davao, I'm sure you'd really like to know if you're a red velvet enthusiast like me.

Why red velvet cupcakes? It's true, I don't like the color red, but when I see the color red in a dessert, it makes me wanna crave for more, and I also find it very sexy for a dessert.

So, let's start with Jonathan's Cupcakery (a.k.a. Johnny's Cupcakes) red velvet ones.
(Johnny's Cupcakes is located at Arellano street, Davao city)
-For its size, it's a winner.
-Each red velvet is worth P 45.00
-Not too sweet as what I've expected from a red velvet cupcake.
-It's not as velvety as expected also. The cupcake is red on the outside, but not really on the inside.
-The cream cheese frosting is not enough for its size! (Boo! factor)

Overall rating: 3/5

Now, let's move to Margie's Bakeshop's red velvet babies.
(Margie's Bakeshop is located at 2/F Abreeza Mall, J.P. Laurel, Davao city or at Tulip Drive, Davao city, or at Torres st., Davao city)
-I call them babies because their size is smaller compared to Johnny's
-Each red velvet costs P 55.00 (expensive!..but so worth it)
-Sweet as heaven!
-Velvety and rich. Deep red inside and out.
-it's generously topped with cream cheese frosting with sprinkles on it.

Overall rating: 5/5

and the winner for this red velvet battle is MARGIE'S BAKESHOP :)

So, from what store do you buy your favorite red velvet cupcake?
I do hope you like this first food smackdown I posted. If you want more you can always suggest thru comments,

These are a few of my favorite...food!

Hi guys! Y'all do know that I love food and although I have been blogging about beauty products and looks for these past few months, I can't help but also to blog about food.

One of my latest cravings is the BUBBLE TEA!!!
Now, what is bubble tea? It's obviously a milk tea with tapioca pearls on it. The first time I tried its was when I was in Hong Kong last August. A few weeks ago, I found this small store located in front of Davao Doctors College in Malvar street named 360 Degrees Handshaken Tea and I tried one of their bestsellers which is the Caramel Milk Tea.
It's so good and it's also cheap. For only P 35.00, you can enjoy this refreshing drink. You can choose between red or green tea, but I prefer green tea for the caramel flavor. Wanna try their ovaltine flavor too (one of their bestsellers).

Next stop is Caffe Firenzo. Located at Quirino street, in front of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
This afternoon while downloading some games, I can't help but really want to try their LaCrema Gelato and I fell in love with the Yogurt Tart flavor (no photo...sorry T.T), and if you're a sucker for frozen yogurt stuff, I'm sure you'll fall for this one too.
But aside from that creamy gelato, I also tried one of their cakes and I find their Strawberry and White Chocolate Cheesecake so appetizing paired up with a cup of Cafe Mocha.

Oops! already ate the half of it :p

..and they also have some mochi ice cream which is called "Mochilato". So I was eager to try the Pudding flavor.

Let me rate their Mochilato. It's totally 2/5. First, the mochi was dry and not sticky enough like what Mochicreme has, and the gelato is melted. Therefore, I don't really recommend this one >.<

So these are the few of my favorite food at the moment. 'till next time. Bye! -k*

mango pudding

So let's talk about sweets this time. I was intrigued by this Chinese dessert called mango pudding when it's certainly look like a mango jello.
It's my first time to make such dessert and this is the result of my own version:

Looks delicious eh?
This is a fun dessert for your family. My mom really loves my own version of mango pudding. I'm sure everyone will enjoy it, especially the kids or the kids at heart.

In making this mango pudding, you'll need:
  • 10 g of jelly powder (unflavored)
  • 5 mangoes, sliced into cubes
  • 1 cup or 250 ml evaporated milk ( I suggest Carnation Evap)
  • 2 cups or 500 ml water
  • 200 g white sugar
How to make mango pudding:
  1. Mix the jelly powder and white sugar with water. Cook it to low heat until all sugar is dissolved.
  2. Blend in the diced mangoes and evaporated milk into the mixture.
  3. Stir constantly until the mixture has already thickened.
  4. Pour into molds and place them in the freezer for at least an hour.
That simple! I hope you try this delicious dessert. It's very easy to make and the ingredients aren't so hard to find.
'till next time, bye! -k*

Latest addiction: Mochi Creme

Hello my fellow bloggers! This time I'm going to share to you my latest addiction and the only thing that I've always been craving for...it's mochi + ice cream = MOCHI CREME!

God must've heard my prayers because all this time I've always been craving for mochi and ice cream or frozen yogurt, and when I went to SM city Davao last September 3, I saw this stall at the 2nd floor and I was curious because of the store's name. I said to myself that I hope they're selling mochi ice cream, and guess what? They do!
Aren't they cute? :) Reminds me of the big Dango Family on the anime series Clannad

The flavors available are Green Tea Matcha, Azuki Read Bean, Black Sesame (all three flavore are for Php 42), Purple Yam, Mango, Chocolate, and Strawberry (flavors recently mentioned are all for Php 38)

I am hoping for more flavors soon! I hope they'd have vanilla :)

So far I have tried Strawberry, Azuki Red Bean, and Mango. Azuki Red Bean and Strawberry are my personal favorites, but too bad when I went to their store this afternoon, both flavors were not available so I bought Mango flavor instead.
 Cute isn't it?! *.*

 I'm a super mochi creme addict!! >.<

So guys if you're from Davao and you love mochi and ice cream as much as I do, you gotta try this Mochi Creme Japanese Ice Cream, located at the 2nd floor of SM city Davao near Chicco di Caffe. It's the perfect dessert for all you mochi addicts out there ;)

And for those of you who have tried this, what's your favorite flavor? -k*

I'm in love with chocolates!

I lurve Cadbury :) Its sweetness is just enough to satisfy my taste buds..yum! I like the Cadbury dairy milk, and their Cadbury strawberry yogurt because it has a twist berry flavor on it. Whenever I have extra money, I go to a grocery store to buy these Cadbury chocolates or Lindt chocolates.
I also love nestle chocolates like KitKat and Crunch, and this one too, Butterfinger. Got this from my aunt. So chewy and delicious :)
I don't like chocolates with nuts but I have an exemption when it comes to FERRERO ROCHER. I feel like I'm in heaven when I eat this chocolate. I got this from my boyfriend last Valentines and I was so happy when he gave me these. Crunchy and sweet at the same time.

I'm really deeply madly in love with these sweet monsters. I know they make me fat but chocolates saves me from boredom ;)

From chocolate cakes to chocolate candy bars, there's only one thing I can say about them...oishi!
