Missha M Signature Real Complete BB Cream + Missha BB Boomer Review

Hi! I'm finally back with another BB cream review. Like I said on my previous BB cream post, I would really love to try and explore more of the BB creams. When I was in HK, my cousin took me to MISSHA and bought me the Missha BB Boomer and Missha M Signature Real Complete BB cream as a gift. Yay! So I finally have another BB cream on stock :p

At first I was hesitant to try another BB cream from Missha because I did try the Missha Cho Bo Yang BB cream before and that didn't suit me at all. It made my skin more oily and prone to acne that time when I used it. But the lady from Missha suggested this Signature Real Complete BB cream because it's for the oily skin type.

but before the BB cream review, let me say something about the Missha BB Boomer.

The BB Boomer is also considered as a primer for the BB cream. According to Missha, it enhances the effectiveness of the BB cream, resulting in better adherence and long-lasting wear. It contains pearl pink powder that makes the skin look brighter. It also helps the skin feeling soft and moisturized. It also features wrinkle repairing and whitening functions.
Price: HK$ 168.00 (Php 882.12)
In my point of view, I find the Missha BB Boomer excellent. It's definitely suitable for all skin types. Even I have oily skin, this boomer never made my skin oily at all. It enhances that dewy finish that I'm looking for. So that's an A++ from me.

...and now for the Missha M Signature Real Complete BB Cream.
According to Missha, this BB cream gives even and natural-looking coverage with the soothing, moisturizing properties of a cream. It's suitable for all skin types and can be used as a make up base or foundation.
Price: HK$ 298.00 (Php 1,564.71)
.

I have the one in no. 23 - Natural Yellow Beige

Before I applied the BB cream in my hand, I already primed it with the BB Boomer.
Verdict:

Pro's:
  • Excellent coverage. It really does cover my acne and dark spots on my face...and it's also lightweight!
  • It easily spreads on skin.
  • It has that scent but don't really annoy me at all.
  • It has SPF 25, which means it can protect my skin from the harmful UV rays for 7-10 hours.
  • Suits really well for the oily skin type. I wore this for more than 6 hours without retouching my make up and my face wasn't shiny at all. I give that an A+++ :p
Con's:
  • Pricey! It's a good thing we bought this BB cream on sale.
  • It's only available in 3 shades. What I have is the darkest shade already and this seems to be a bit more lighter than my skin tone, that's why I only apply a few of the product on my face because I'd like to keep it natural.
  • Difficult to remove. You really have to use a make up remover. It cannot be simply removed by an ordinary soap and water.
  • Not available in my territory. Missha cosmetics can only be bought online since there is no store here yet in Davao city.
voila! That's me wearing the BB cream. Any thoughts on this? What do you think?

...and that's all for this review. I do hope you find this review useful when you're planning to buy any BB creams in the future. Missha is actually known as the "BB expert". They have a variety of BB creams for different skin types. I'm very happy that I finally got a Missha BB cream that suits well for my skin.

Review: Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream

Hi! I'm finally back this time with a review.
Wow! It's been what? 3 months? And this is actually my first blogpost and first review for 2013.
So, happy new year my very lovely followers! Sorry if I'm a bit late already, but hey! It's still January anyway and it's not even Chinese new year yet, therefore, it's not the actual year of the water snake thingy yet. HAHA!

I have here my review for Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream. I'm obsessed with face/skincare products lately. Might as well I should start taking extra care of my skin right now and my pimples are starting to pop out everywhere on my face after the board exam, stressed much?

I'm actually not a huge fan of BB creams, but ever since I found out what they're really for. I feel like I want to explore more of them. I've already used one before but that didn't really work out for my skin so well.

The BB or "Blemish Balm" cream actually originated from Korea. They are these sort of all-in-one cream. It's basically a foundation/concealer/make up base/whitening/moisturizer in a bottle. The texture is a bit thicker than lotion but they blend really well on skin. It has this sheer finish which makes the skin have that pearly glow. No wonder Korean actresses have such nice skin.

I had this one from Etude House. The very first time I tried their BB cream, I fell in love with it! and what I love about it is, they really work on oily skin.

I also like the packaging. It's cute. And it has this pump which you can control how much product you can use.

I'm glad that Etude House is expanding their market by offering more shades of their BB cream. Last time I checked, they only have 2 shades, but now they already have 6! Which is good for the Philippine market.
I had the one in W15 Sand Beige.

voila! The sand beige shade just blends perfectly on my skin.
The Verdict:

Pro's
  • It's super lightweight on skin and blends really well.
  • Very good for people with oily skin. It actually takes 3-4 hours before my skin starts to get oily again. So what I do is I apply powder for touch-ups, but still my face looks healthy.
  • It brings that sheer glow on the face. Unlike liquid foundation, they tend to cake and also give that sort of dry complexion which I hate.
  • It conceals acne marks!
  • It has SPF 30, meaning it can protect your skin from UV rays for 8-12 hours.
Con's
  • It's a bit pricey. Php 798.00, but I can say that it's really worth of your money.
  • Darker shades of this product tend to run out in the market quickly.
and that's it for this review! I do hope you find this one very useful if you're planning to try BB creams this time, but I'm still actually open for more options.
What other BB creams have you already tried aside from Etude House? Let me know through posting your comments below.

Contact Lens Review: Sparkle Hello Kitty in Black

Hi! I know I'm not really that much of a contact lens expert since I'm not really fund of collecting them, but I'm gonna have a review on this one for those who are interested. A Facebook message from Amz of aMz Blog just made my day - I won her birthday giveaway! Amazing prizes were in store of course and one of them was a pair of Sparkle Hello Kitty Contact lens. I got the one in black.

Diameter: 14.5 mm (Dolly eyes)

oooh~! cute Hello Kitty Pattern! I was kinda nervous about the design. Might be too obvious when I wear it, but it turned out to be unnoticeable after all.

They're kinda grayish when used with flash on photos.

See what I mean? Kawaii ne~
photo w/ flash

photo w/out flash
My verdict:
  • It's very comfortable to wear. Doesn't irritate my eyes at all.
  • The Diameter size is not a problem. I do prefer 14.5 mm diameter when it comes to dolly eye contacts. Some people just don't though.
  • Dries easily when I wear them. So, always make sure to bring your contact lens solution with you.

...and that's all for this review.
If you've already tried this kind of contact lens, please do let me know. I'd really appreciate that.

Makeup Geek eye shadows review + swatches

Hi everyone! How's October so far?
Expect that I won't be blogging much for the next three months because right now I'm living in a dormitory for our in-house review which will start tomorrow. I'm loving the fact that I don't have any roommate right now, but the wi-fi here kinda suck a bit.

Anyways, let's move on with the Makeup Geek eye shadows. I did blog about the surprise that I received from Makeup Geek last Thursday and I promised that I'll be posting reviews, swatches, and looks from them. So, here's my review of the Makeup Geek 8-Eyeshadow Starting Kit.

Each eye shadows were placed on pans because these are only refills. These refills can be placed on Z Palettes.

So the starting kit were composed of 8 gorgeous eye shadows that compliments well with every skin tone. Namely, they are (refer to the photo below): Purely Naked, Shimma Shimma, Unexpected, Glamorous (from top left to right), Cocoa Bear, Mocha, Purple Rain, and Corrupt (from bottom left to right).

Photo with flash

Photo w/out flash
  • Purely Naked - Soft shimmery nude
  • Shimma shimma - Shimmery highlight
  • Unexpected - Light and subtle pink matte purple blend
  • Glamorous - Bronzy, shimmery gold
  • Cocoa Bear - Matte golden brown
  • Mocha - Matte warm medium brown
  • Purple Rain - Deep but subtle matte purple
  • Corrupt - Intense matte black with small bit of sparkle
So, here are my swatches:
In order top row from left to right

In order bottom row from left to right

What I Love about the eye shadows:

  • They blend well on my skin tone and they last for a very long time on my eyelids.
  • Highly pigmented.
  • I'm having a strong feeling that some of the eye shadows are very good dupes of the Urban Decay Naked palette.
What I don't love about the eye shadows:
  • Not available in the Philippines. These eye shadows are available only in the US but they ship anywhere in the world affordably.
  • Not-so-affordable. This starting kit costs US$ 45.00 (about Php 1,890.00) and each eye shadow costs US$ 5.99 (about Php 251.50). But all I can say is that they are really worth of your money - HANDS DOWN!
I'm very happy with these eye shadows. They may be a bit expensive but quality-wise, they're excellent! My favorites on this kit are Purely Naked, Unexpected, and Corrupt. Purely Naked is just that perfect eyelid color if your want something natural for your day-to-day wear, and Unexpected as well. The only difference is that Unexpected brings a hint of color which makes your eyes lovely. Really matches well with brown eyes. And Corrupt is really pigmented even in just a light tap on the eye shadow, Marlena's definitely right about that.

Purple Rain and Mocha are very good crease colors as well.

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 :)))

I had really fun playing with these eye shadows. I'll be posting looks with these so make sure you tune in to that.

Mail Surprise from Makeup Geek

Wow! Something arrived on our mail today.
When I got home from SM this afternoon, my uncle told me that I've got a package from the US.

YES! It's from Make Up Geek!!! :)))

I didn't expect that the package will arrive as soon as I expected. They mailed the package last September 27, and then they arrived today. Now that was fast! Hands down to Jena, I owe this girl a lot!

I'm such a huge fan of Marlena, she's the YouTube beauty guru and also the CEO of MakeUp Geek.
At first they started with MUG (MakeUp Geek) brushes and now they are expanding their brand to cosmetics. The very first product they released are the MakeUp Geek eye shadows and that time they were still experimenting. They even ask their fans for names of their eye shadows which I find really cool.

Anyways, when I opened my package I was in awe...

I didn't expect it to be the MakeUp Geek 8-Shadow Starter Kit!
These were the very first eye shadows they released last year.

For more info about the product, you can watch this video:

video courtesy of Makeup Geek's youtube channel

Anyways, I'll be posting reviews and swatches next week about these eye shadows and some looks that I've created with them, yeah - I played with these eye shadows right after I opened the package.
So please do watch out for that :)

Fall Trend: Brown Smokey Eyes (mini tutorial)

Hi ladies I'm back! Well, not for too long 'cause you see I'm still busy with my board exam review.
It's the second 'ber' month of the year 2012 and I've noticed ever since last September, Fall trends have already started in some of the beauty blogs and fashion blogs that I followed. Although we may not have four season here in our country but we still tend to follow the seasonal trends all around the globe.
Whenever I hear the phrase "Fall Trend", I think of coats and scarfs, and for the colors, there's browns and plums.

Anyways, here's a mini tutorial for y'all. I haven't been wearing make up for about a month now due to my ongoing acne treatment, but I miss wearing it so badly that I tend to wear just simply eye make up and some lippy. I don't put on foundation, concealer, or blushies, just an ordinary face powder.

I'm so obsessed with BROWN SMOKEY EYES! I find it really sexy actually. It's my go-to look for the past few days now. It's really not that heavy to look and perfect for day-to-day wear. It's also perfect for different types of skin tone, whether you're fair, dark, or tan, you can easily pull it off.

I just used 3 eye shadows on this look and all of them are matte ones from my NYX Box of Smokey Look Collection (S114) palette.

1 - for the eyelids; 2 - crease; 3 - highlight

So, let's get started!

  1. Prime your eyelids using your eye shadow primer. Apply it also on your brow bone and below your bottom lashes.
  2. Using a brown eye pencil, line you upper lashes and the top of your lashes. And don't forget to put also below your bottom lashes.
step. #2

3. Smudge. Smudge. SMUDGE!
4. Apply a light brown eye shadow all over your eyelid using a flat brush. Don't forget also to apply some on your bottom lashes.
step #4

5. Use a dark brown eye shadow and apply it on you crease using a fluffy brush, and blend it inwards. Apply also below the bottom lashes.
step #5

6. Using a light eye shadow, preferably 2 shades lighter than your skin tone, apply some of it to your tear duct and brow bone using a fluffy brush. This will serve as your highlight.
step #6

7. Use a black liquid eye liner and apply it thinly on your upper lashes just to emphasize your lashes for a more dramatic look.

8. Curl your lashes and apply two coats of your favorite volume mascara and you're good to go!

..and TA-DA!

I'm like laughing out loud 'cause I literally did NOT edit my photos for you to see how bad my skin is right now. I may have edited the lighting, but not my face :p

Since I'm really digging for the fall trend, I also applied that trend on my lips.
I'm using NICHIDO LIP LINER in LP04 'ROSETTE', and to top that off, I used LAURA MERCIER LIP GLOSS in PLUM NOIR.

and that's it for this look.

So what do you think, my gorgeous followers? I'd really appreciate it if you'd post your comments below.
I'm daring you all ladies to try this one. :)
I know my skin is really in a bad condition right now. Currently suffering with acne at the moment. Maybe because I'm somewhat stressed with the review, but don't worry lads, I can handle it.

and oh! Don't forget to join my giveaway. It ends on October 19th :)
