The reason why I love my hometown

Davao city.
I am so lucky that I was born and raised in this city.
I am definitely a food lover..and when it comes to food, Davao city has it all! So if ever I was a tourist, I would really love to come back over and over here because of their great food.

So, here are some of my restaurants and cafes here in the city..

*Ribs! If you like ribs or any grilled food then you must try Lyndon's World's Worst Ribs and Awful Chicken

I really love the resto's description because it's so ironic. But for me they are definitely the best ribs here in the city. It's definitely a must-try when you go to Roxas Avenue...

*Do you have a sweet tooth? Then you must definitely go to Lachi's Sans Rival Atbp.

Their desserts are really amazing and they can only be found here in Davao city, located at Marfori heights. A very small restaurant and but a lot of people during lunch and dinner go here to eat their sumptuous meals and their sweetest desserts! Plus, if you want to eat here on time, you would really have to got a reservation. Take it from me ;)

So here's my fave from Lachi's. It's going to be Pork Marinara..The best!
While my boyfriend's fave is their unforgettable pork ribs. From the name itself, it's truly unforgettable ;)

aah...desserts, desserts, desserts! Everytime we go to Lachi's I always order a dessert. You can just simply choose from their refrigerator which cake you want to eat. I've tried Old French Chocolate cake (Jacko's fave), Bittersweet Chocolate, Durian Cheesecake (must-try), Midnight Chocolate Delight, Dulce de Leche, and my personal fave...

the Creme Brulee cake :) It's not too sweet but definitely the taste is heaven-sent. One bite and I can say "It's so fluffy I want to die!". A slice of this cake can really make my day.

*Davao city is known for its hot and sunny weather. Halo-halo is the best solution for that. For the best Halo-halo in town, you can find it in Matina Town Square, or us Dabawenyos call it "MTS", located in McArthur highway, in front of Ateneo de Davao high school.
I super duper love Aling Foping's Halo-halo!

Aside from the fact that their Halo-halo is price-worthy, you can also select your own fillings with the minimum of 6 items. I mostly pick Leche Flan, Ube Jam, Nata de Coco, Kaong, Langka (Jackfruit), Macapuno.
A very good treat for a hot and sunny day.

*I really love Italian food. Not to mention, PIZZA!..and some pasta of course. For the delicious Italian food, there's no other place for me to go except for Picobello Ristorante Italiano, located at the 5th floor of Gaisano South Citimall in Ilustre st.
This restaurant has that classy ambiance but when you look at their menu, the prices are very affordable. Everyday from 2 PM-5 PM, their Pizzas are "buy 1 take 1". So most students from Davao Doctors College and from UIC, my school, goes to Picobello during afternoon breaks.
My personal fave from Picobello is their Calzone. It's only P 300.00 and it's definitely worth the price. Their Calzone is way better than what Yellow Cab has. This really has a true taste of Italy. Very cheesy and fluffy. I can even finish this all by myself. LOL :D

*Locality at its best. Penong's. Where you can experience the unlimited rice.
We Filipinos love to eat. While Dabawenyos love it unlimited. Since I'm a student, me and my classmates love to eat at Penong's during lunch break. A chicken barbecue meal costs P 68.00 only and it has unlimited rice! Clap your hands twice and the waiter will just serve you the number of cups of rice you wish to eat. I love Filipino dishes also, so for a cheaper resto me and my family chooses Penong's.

*Aside from being a chocoholic, I am also a coffee-addict. I love hanging out at coffee shops. Davao city has the original Blugre cafe which I think their price is overrated and trying to compete with Starbucks. Although they may be different from bringing out their original Durian coffee.
I have two favorite coffee shops that are originally from Davao. One is the Coffee at Yellow Hauz, located at Mabini st.

They only have one branch in the city and the unique thing about this coffee shop is that it is literally a house and the ambiance gives comfortable feeling. I feel like I'm just staying at my own house while sitting on their couch while surfing the net (of course the place is wi-fi) and their coffee is also great.

Another favorite Davao Original coffee shop of mine is Kasagingan Kapehan, located at Torres st.

Truly unique! Blugre has Durian coffee, while Kasagingan has Bananappuccinos. Me and my classmate Ace's fave hang out. Why? Their coffee is cheap, but delicious, and their food is also cheap. They have specialties such as Maruya drizzled with chocolate syrup, Pinaypay and...

their Tworon (turon) which is my fave. Their Tworon is drizzled with caramel and chocolate, and it's only worth P 45.00. We love it here because aside from their great coffee and delicious treats, it's only takes a tricycle to take us here from our school, no electrical charges (as long as you order though), and incredibly fast wi-fi.

*You can never be called a certified Dabawenyo when you haven't tasted the king of fruits, Durian!
Durian can only be found in Asia, and lucky for Davao, it is the only place in the Philippines where you can find them. Among their types, my fave is the puyat. Wanna know why? You have to come here to Davao to find out :D
This photo was taken last 2009. Me and my cousins were eating Durian in the streets in the middle of the night. During season, meaning July-August, Durian is like P 20.00 - P 30.00 per kilo only. Very cheap, eh?
I know it smells terrible but it's really sweet. It almost tastes like a Green Pedalai, or also known as Marang.
The perfect phrase to describe Durian is: "It smells like hell, but it tastes like heaven.."

So that's it. This is the reason why I love Davao so much. Great food is everywhere. So, if you're on a diet and you came by to visit here, I'm sorry to tell you but you really have to give that up for a while because your Davao experience will never be complete if you haven't gone to these favorite food spots, not just by me but also by Dabawenyos.

Cat Eye Look

Hey there! So today I tried this Cat Eye look.
I was watching one of MissChievous' make up tutorials this afternoon. She was applying a gel liner to create the perfect cat eye look.

The Cat Eye look is popular right now because a lot of Korean artists such as Dara of 2ne1 is making it as a signature look.
..and also, have you seen Dianna Agron at the Grammy's? I LOVE her look :D
I tried doing this eye look using an ordinary pencil liner such as Nichido Eye Pencil in Black and L.A. Colors Eyeliner & Eye Shadow Dual Pencil
..and this is the horrible result:
(sorry for the poor quality of my webcam)

LOL I know I literally suck at it. I'm still practicing though.
I really love this look because it really defines my eyes. It was said in the make up tutorial that when you're still practicing this look, you must first use cheap products because if you'd spend a lot of money for a gel liner or a liquid liner, it's not really practical.

It's just me inside my room in a boring evening trying to make something productive.
For the tutorial, here's the link:
I hope you'd try it too. 'till next time! -k*

Surprise #1

Guess what came into my mailbox today?
It's one of my birthday wishes!
NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Smokey Look
and
NYX Round Lip Gloss in Kiss
This really made my day.
Too bad I was still in the shower this morning when the package arrived.
Like my mom was really curious about the package I could tell :)
I bought these online at Digital Traincase, an online shop at Multiply, they mostly sell NYX cosmetics and it was incredibly a fast transaction.
The mega shine lip gloss is worth P 260.00 and the round lip gloss is worth P 160.00.
Very affordable but worth it! I was so excited to try it this morning and I'll be posting my review about these items including my NYX Strawberry Milk round lipstick very soon, so stay tuned.

My Birthday Wishlist

This June I'll be turning 20 and these past birthdays I never knew what I really want to have. People would usually ask me what do I want for my birthday and stuff, then I just "anything" and that would turn out to something even worse.
Well now that I'll be 20 soon, I think it's time for me to decide what I really want to have. Of course it's a birthday, I'm pretty sure that almost all of us understand what I feel when that day comes. It's special, and if possible everything will turn out the way you want it, right?

First is the Nikon Coolpix S6100.
Th reason why I would really love to have this camera is that it's 16 MP and it's so small, it just fits into my pocket. The reviews and ratings about this cam is very good. And I have read from the Nikon website in the U.S. the price is just $ 199.00. But it's still not available here in the Philippines :(

Second, Crocs Sexi Flip
Why? I don't know. Maybe I'm just jealous that my mom got a Crocs that's a flip flop type and I really love it. It's very comfortable and light.
It's P 1,850.00 in their Crocs Philippines website, but it's still not available in SM. :(

Third is the VS 1 1/2 inch curling iron.
I have other curling irons but I want the one that can absolutely give you bigger curls because it looks sexy.
This one is already granted because my cousin just gave it to me last week, but it's shorter than this one.
Well at least I can still have that big sexy curls :p

NYX COSMETICS!!!
Why? I am really addicted to cosmetics right now, especially with NYX because they are not very expensive but they are really good. The first NYX product that I have and the only one I have right now is NYX Strawberry Milk lipstick (will post a review soon).
The reason why I want to have a new set of cosmetics is that I have already thrown the old ones because they have been with me me for 3 to 4 years already and luckily they haven't done anything harm on my face LOL.
I have already pre-ordered the NYX Box of Smokey Look (S114) last week for P 1,100.00, and hopefully 2 weeks from now I'll be having them, and I'm planning to buy NYX Mega Shine lip gloss in Smokey Look and NYX Round lip gloss in Kiss next week. I can only buy them online because they are not available here in the Philippines. I buy NYX products in Starmaine Cay, an online shop in Facebook, and Digital Traincase, an online shop in Multiply. Both of them are reliable sellers.

In relation to my addiction in cosmetics, no. 5 on my wishlist is a make up brush set.
And yay! It came true :) I already have my very first make up brush set courtesy of my cousin.

Call me childish but I would really love to experience birthday cupcakes.
I am definitely a lover of sweets and cupcakes are really cute for birthday celebrations.

And last but not the least is the Cappuccino Cake from SugarMunch.
They say that the cakes from SugarMunch are really delicious and I wanna try this one because aside from the fact that I am a coffee-addict, I'm also a chocoholic :)

So that's all for my birthday wishlist. I have less than a month to fulfill my wishes.haha!
'till next time! -Kimmy

New Look for School (Very Cheap Products Used)

Few weeks from now, the classes are about to start. I know that some of you may want to have a new look for the new academic year.
I have been thinking of changing my look because these past few years I've always had heavy dark-colored eyes and nude-pink lips when going to school.
So, I've come up with a more light and natural look. For me this doesn't take to much time, in 10 minutes I can completely finish my look and therefore I won't have any reason to be late at all :)

-So first, I have to apply concealer under my eyes to cover the ugly dark circles.
For years I only use MAXI-PEEL CONCEALING CREAM in natural because aside from the fact that it's cheap, it's also a good make up base. It gives a matte finish and it doesn't make my skin oily after 6 hours of using this product. It's only P 80.00 in the market, and that's a very student-friendly budget.

-After I applied the concealing cream, I use my MAYBELLINE CLEAR SMOOTH EXTRA SHINE FREE POWDER FOUNDATION in honey to give more of a matte finish onto my face. I have used this foundation for several months now and it's really good. It's a long-lasting oil control face powder which suits in the Philippines' everyday weather. It's only P 249.00 in stores nationwide and that's another student-friendly budget, but I bought it for P 20.00 off so it's only P 229.00. Lucky!

- Now the next job is the eyes.
I take an eye lash curler to curl up my upper lashes. Then I apply loads of mascara in my upper and lower lashes to give that thick look on them. I use MAYBELLINE LONG EXTREME STILETTO. The reason why I love this mascara is that it's waterproof, and it make my lashes very thick and long. It's P 349.00 in stores, but I bought it for only P 244.30 since at that time it was 30% off. I know it's not a student-friendly budget but another alternative from this mascara is the
L.A. GIRL H2O PROOF MASCARA in black. It's only P 165.00 and it's also waterproof and it almost had that the same quality with Maybelline. So if you're in a tight budget, I can recommend you use this product from L.A. Girl, but if you can afford the one from Maybelline, then why not?

I don't use eyeliners in this look because that will just make my eyes heavy and somewhat unnatural. So I only use mascara as the eye make up for this look.

- So next is the cheeks. To get that natural look, I use tints.
Apply cheek tint into the apples of your cheeks, just enough tint to have that natural look. BENEFIT BENETINT is a very good choice but it costs like P 1,200.00 - P 1,350.00. Pretty expensive eh?
So for an alternative, there's BENCH PRETTYWHENPINCHED. It's available in Bench stores nationwide and it's very cheap. It's only
P 180.00 and a very good cheek tint.

And last but not the least is the lips.
Gently apply lip balm and you're all set to go. But if you want to apply some gloss for you to have that glossy-look in your lips it would be better if you choose a clear one to make it more natural.
My personal favorite is the NIVEA SOFT ROSE lip balm because it only gives a light pink color and it moisturizes my lips well. But if I want something that gives more color I use LIPICE COLOR in candy apple.

(Sorry for the very bad quality of my webcam)
My eyes with the Maybelline Long Extreme Stiletto

( I apologize for the bad quality of my webcam )
So that's it! I'm finished with my new look for this academic year. I hope you'd try it. It's very easy and it doesn't take that much time when you're in a hurry, especially in the morning.
You can also have this as your everyday look, when you go to malls or just hanging out with your friends.
'till next time. Bye!

Cooking Kimmy Part II

Hi my fellow bloggers! As what I've said from my previous cooking Kimmy part one blog, I promised to cook again for our 15th monthsary last April 30, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, I was only able to cook this afternoon ..and here it is..tada!
This time I cooked Pork Tonkatsu instead of Hamburg Steak, and Crepes, specifically Banana Nutella Crepes, like what I have in my photo above :)
The reason why I chose to cook this dish was that a few days ago I tried this recipe from the Youtube channel, cooking with dog, because it was very easy to make and all the ingredients are just found in the kitchen. I am obviously a meat lover and that time I was craving for pork chops, and I said to myself why not try tonkatsu instead?
And because I was really satisfied with the taste I have decided to cook this for my boyfriend for our monthsary, and indeed he said it was great.. yay!
For me the best tonkatsu is served with a half-cooked egg, while my boyfriend suggested cheese on top. Well, I'll try that next time :)

For our dessert I've tried making Crepes. Well actually Crepes are really one of my favorites. This time I made Banana Nutella Crepes with chocolate ice cream.
This is my first time making Crepes. It really looks easy once you see how it's made, but when it's your turn, it absolutely the other way around, and the most difficult part is when you do the flipping.
Crepes are like pancakes that really thin, but I find them more interesting to eat and I don't know even why. My boyfriend told me the technique to make on how to make them perfect is that do not include egg whites on making crepes. LOL I could really say I am an amateur. But anyways it tastes great, obviously he enjoyed it, and I can say it's a whole lot better than the Crepe I have tasted in a Cafe in Quirino :)

If you want to try the recipe for Pork Tonkatsu or Katsudon, here's the link:
And for the Crepes:

I hope you try these recipes. They are very easy and budget-friendly :)
